Obituary

Walter Catlow, 90, of Gales Ferry, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Fairview Nursing Home in Groton. He was born in Los Angeles, CA, the son of James and Rose Hanna Catlow.

Walter served in the US Navy Armed Guard aboard supply ships during WWII. Following the war, he attended Technical School in Putnam, CT which ultimately led him to a 38 year career at Electric Boat as a Designer in the Nuclear Arrangements Department.

Walter loved to fish and hunt and was an avid square dancer until a stroke ended his love of dancing. He was also a member of the VFW and the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose B. Catlow, his daughter, Gail Wilmonen and her husband Leland of Ledyard, CT, his son, Robert Catlow and his wife Betty of Orland, ME and a granddaughter, Jessica Catlow and her wife Carlota Figueras of Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his parents and an older brother James Catlow.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service to be held at Avery Stoddard Cemetery in Gales Ferry, CT Saturday June 4th at 11AM. A celebration of Walter's life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry immediately following the graveside service.
