TAUNTON – Delores (Silva) Vincent, wife for 58 years of Richard T. Vincent of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2016. She was 78.
Born in Dighton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ermelinda Silva. Delores obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from Bridgewater State University and another Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston College.
She was employed for many years for the Taunton Public School system as an English teacher and guidance counselor retiring in the mid 90’s.
She continued her career as a Licensed Social Worker, working as a community health therapist.
A communicant of Holy Family Church, she was a member of St. Vincent de Paul and a recipient of the Marian Medal.
She loved spending time with her family, reading, traveling and knitting.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, Richard J. Vincent of Attleboro and Dr. David P. Vincent of NY; two daughters, Pamela C. Charpentier of E. Taunton and Kathleen V. Maynard and her husband Michael of Taunton; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Couture of CA; five grandchildren, Sarah and Laura Vincent, Jake Charpentier, and Ian and Rachel Maynard.
She was also the sister of the late Ezilda Perreault and Lolita Gonzalez.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, May 31st at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church in E. Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 30th from 4 to 7 p.m.
