Obituary

Faye Davenport Troxell, 81, of Tifton passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Troxell at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Oak Ridge Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Rev. John Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 28, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mike Bland, Tommy Smallwood, Wilbur Webb, Bobby Miles, Rayburn Martin and Gene Seigler will serve as pallbearers.

Born June 29, 1934 in Americus, Mrs. Troxell was the daughter of the late Simmie George Davenport and Mildred Murphy Davenport. She was also preceded in death by a brother, George Davenport. She was a retired school teacher and librarian. After retirement, she was the librarian for over 20 years at Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where she was a member. She loved working at Vacation Bible School and reading to children. She also loved the beach, her bridge club and reading.

Mrs. Troxell is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clair E. Troxell of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Leslie Troxell of Tifton; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Earl Pafford of Tifton; a sister, Anne Davenport of Marietta; two grandchildren, Molly P. and Drew Richardson and Eden Troxell; and special family friends, Paul and Charlotte Fowler.
