Jimmy Drury, 65, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, May 28, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Harris Johnson, the Rev. Dan Lovett, and the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Drury was born May 5, 1951, in Wayne County, Georgia, to the late Simon Edward & Mae Edenfield Drury. He was a graduate of Wayne County High School. Mr. Drury worked as a welder for the Georgia Department of Transportation where he also sandblasted bridges. He also worked for many years as a motor grader operator with the Ben Hill County Road Department. He loved hunting and fishing as well as watching football and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Laura Diane Lovett Drury of Fitzgerald; two children and their spouses: Laura Drury Fussell & Joel of Hinesville and James Edward Drury & Michelle of Fitzgerald; two grandchildren: Jennifer Fussell, currently a student at Mercer University and Laurie Ann Drury of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only brother, Simon Edward Drury, Jr. on May 21, 2016.
