Joan (Russo) Tracy passed away Wednesday, May 25th, surrounded by her four children. The beloved wife of the late David M. Tracy, she was 84 years of age.
Born in Boston, and raised in Everett, Joan was the eldest of four daughters of the late Theresa (Hill) and Dominic Russo.
She graduated from Everett high with the class of 1949. She was married in 1953 to the late David M. Tracy of Medford, moved to a new home in Woburn in 1955 on the west side where she had raised her four children and resided ever since. Upon moving to Woburn, Joan was a devote member of St. Barbara’s Parish. Also a devoted mother, Joan’s family was the center of her life. In her earlier years, she enjoyed family vacationing in Humarock by the beach. In addition to spending time with her family, she was a talented seamstress and crafter and could always be seen at local craft fairs displaying her hand-made doll clothes, afghans, and various knitted items. In her later years, she put her talents to good use performing seamstress work for the elderly.
Joan is survived by her four children, David and Sarah Tracy of Stoneham, Judy Finn of Woburn, Michael and Cheryl Tracy of Woburn, Steven and Judy Tracy of Litchfield, NH, also by her three sisters Connie Murphy of Everett, Mimi Callahan of Malden, and Pappy Hughes of Newbury, and further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was blessed with her 11 loving grandchildren, Amanda and Sarah Tracy, Tracy Young, Kevin Finn, Brandi Belair, Brandon and Bradford Tracy, Chynna White, Asia Tracy, Jonathan and Jake Thain, and 5 loving great grandchildren, Kiera, Rory, Trey, Aiden, and Rhys.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her two sisters, Roberta Riley and Theresa Dingivan.
A funeral will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, on Wednesday, June 1st, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Calling hours at the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, May 31st, from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with interment at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
