Whitman – Earl “Pete” Aitken 79 a retired Whitman Police officer died Sunday May 22 in the NE Sinai Hospital, Stoughton. He was the beloved husband Dorothy (Plasse) Aitken.
Born and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late Carl S. and Myrtle M. (Wagner) Aitken, and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1954.
Earl was a proud veteran of the US Navy having served from 1954-1962.
Prior to his retirement Earl had served as a police officer for the Town of Whitman for over 25 years, and had been a member of the Methodist Church and was a troop leader for Boy Scout Troop #22.
In his retirement he spent many hours researching genealogy for family and friends. He was also an avid history buff and a collector of “many things”.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his children Diane (Aitken) (Casper) Sampson, Peter E. Aitken of the Whitman Police and Michelle T. (Aitken) Mann as well as his grandchildren David Casper II, Thomas Sampson, Michael Mann, Adam and Joel Aitken, his ”princess” Megan E. Mann and his great grandson Daniel Casper and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his in-laws Delphine Scriven, Paul Plasse and his wife Merryl and Harold Pierce, Sr. and many special friends. He was the brother of the late Harold, C. Edward and Donald Green and Robert Aitken.
By request of the family all services are private. Interment will be held at a later date in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman
