NASHUA, NH - Mary Scotte (Cox) Grose, age 78, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, May 24, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, in the loving care of her family and hospice. She was the beloved wife of John F. Grose, who died in 1999.
Mary was born in February 1938, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Cary and Ann (Patterson) Cox, and was raised there. After her marriage to John, they moved to North Carolina, and finally to Billerica in 1970 to raise their family. She had remained in Billerica until moving to Nashua last month. While raising her family she was active at the Tewksbury United Methodist Church.
She retired from Baybank’s headquarters in Burlington, where she was a counter in the bank’s “money room,” or Main Vault.
In her later years she enjoyed gardening at her Gray Street home, was an active participant and traveller at the Billerica Senior Center, looked forward to trips to the beaches of New England, and was a devout fan of the New England Patriots N.F.L. team.
She leaves her son, Raymond L. Grose of Nashua; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann and her husband Wudi Richards of Nashua; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Grose of GA; seven grandchildren, Kasey Gerhart and her husband Bryan of GA, Hallie Grose of Allston, Krystal Costa and Amber Costa of VA, Shantelle Richards, Justin Richards, and Shelby Richards all of Nashua; three great grandchildren, Charlie, Savannah, and Caroline; a brother, R. Edward Cox and his wife Betty of AL; several nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by a son, Donald S. Grose and daughter Mary Ann Costa.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ the King Church, 3 Lutheran Drive, Nashua, NH. Interment at Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica will be private.
