Obituary

East Bridgewater – Leonard F. Shepard, 71, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, died Tuesday May 24 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of twenty-three years to the late Suzanne (Coles) Shepard.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1945, he was the son of the late Leonard J. and Lena (Reardon) Shepard.

After graduation, he joined the United States Military where he served in the Navy. After returning from the Navy, he went on to have a successful career in sales at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he had worked for over 30 years.

He had volunteered in East Bridgewater as a coach for both the Little League and Youth Basketball programs.

For sixty years, he was a loyal and active member of St. John Parish, where he taught C.C.D. and served on the Central Cemetery Committee.

He had enjoyed traveling and loved spending time at his vacation home in New Hampshire with his family.

He leaves behind a daughter, Dawne (Shepard) Wolfe and her husband John of East Bridgewater, and his sons Michael and his wife Michele of East Bridgewater and Stephen and his wife Patricia of Abington. He was a loving and proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Joel, Tyler, Paul, Nicole, Ryan, Andrew and Alexis. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia (Shepard) Pratt, Ronald Shepard and Donna (Shepard) Folloni.

His services will be held Saturday May 28 at 10:00 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. John Church, East Bridgewater. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Friday May 27 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
