Mrs. Johanna (Stangen) Oetken, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late Gerardo Oetken, passed away at the Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover on Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2016. She was 102 years old.
Born in Gorlitz, East Germany, on December 12, 1913, Johanna was the beloved daughter of the late Kurt and Wilhelmina (Thybusch) Stangen, who emigrated with her and her two brothers, Carl and Friedrich, to Argentina, in the time of great inflation and turmoil in Germany (Weimar Republic). She was a beautiful, gentle and unassuming woman with a smile that would warm your heart. Above all, Johanna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
