Obituary

Theodore Manak, 84, died Saturday, July 9, at the Blue Hills Alzheimer’s Center in Stoughton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Henrietta F. (Gustowski) Manak. Born in Lwow, Poland, he was raised there and moved to the U.S. in 1958. While in Poland, Mr. Manak was a survivor of the Janowska Concentration Camp during WWII. He was educated in Poland and has his Bachelors Degree in Engineering from Slask University in Poland. After moving to the US, he earned his Masters Degree in Structural Engineering from Northeastern University. He worked as a Structural Engineer for numerous firms including Stone & Webster for many years. He retired in 1986. A Chess Master, he enjoyed playing chess in his free time. He was a member of the Striar Center in Stoughton.

In addition to his wife Henrietta, he is survived by his three sons: Chris G. of San Jose, CA, Mark M. of Laurel, MD and Peter L. of Webster. He was the brother of the late Irene Fortunka. Mr. Manak was the grandfather of Christopher G. Manak, Amy E. Rueda, Jonathan M., Stasia G., Edward T. and William Manak. He was the great grandfather of Diego Rueda. He leaves his cousin Danuta Kulaga. He also was the uncle of Andrew Fortunka and the late Christopher Fortunko and the great uncle of Michael Fortunka, Charlene Fortunka and Jackie Fortunko.

Funeral prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Donations in Ted’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation,1501 NW 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
