FALL RIVER – Maria A. (Borges) Gregoire, age 85 of Fall River, passed away May 23, 2016. Born in São Miguel, Açores, she was the beloved wife of Emile Gregoire and the daughter of the late Joáo Borges and the late Maria (Sousa) Paiva. Prior to retiring, Maria worked as a Sewing Machine Operator in the Garment Mfg. Industry. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church.
She cared deeply for her family and friends, and was nurturing to everyone who came into her life. She had a great sense of humor and loved to joke with anyone she met.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children: Geraldine, her husband Arthur Cruz Jr. of Fall River, Edward, his wife Susan Gregoire of Swansea, Donna, her husband David Rodrigues of Fall River; grandchildren: Keith Cruz, Sarah & Katelyn Gregoire, & Rachel Rodrigues; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Augustinho & Joáo Borges, & Evangelina Souza.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Thursday 6-8 P.M.
