John “Jack” C. Foley, 79, of Derry, NH, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He was born in Boston on March 9, 1937, a son of the late James and Rose (Day) Foley. Jack was a Pipe Fitter with Local 537 Pipefitter’s Union and also spent some years as a tractor trailer owner and operator. Jack loved history and was a 'Civil War buff.' He loved horses and was a Huntsman with the Rockingham County Hounds Club of Hampstead, NH.
He is survived by five sons, David DeVits and wife Tina of New Ipswich, NH, Matthew DeVits and wife Janet of Sandown, NH, John C. Foley, Jr. and wife Karen of Groveland, MA, James M. Foley and wife Staci of Derry, Scott Foley of Manchester, NH; daughter, Heidi Foley-Bernard of Naples, FL; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Hal Foley and wife Ann of South Hadley, MA. Jack was pre-deceased by his wife Judith (Wilcox) Foley, his son Sean M. Foley, his daughter Meghan K. Foley and his grandson Zech DeVits.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Funeral services were held on Friday at 10am in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Rd. Derry.
