Obituary

CHICOPEE – Roger P. Coulombe, 75, a longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, May 23, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall West in Agawam surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on February 14, 1941, a beloved son of the late Tancrede J. and Christiana A. (Brault) Coulombe. He was raised and schooled in Chicopee and later lived in the Brightwood section of Springfield before moving back to Chicopee. Roger worked at many places during his life including, Sickles Universal Plastics, Edaron and American Electric Cable Company. Following his retirement, he was employed by the Chicopee School Department and was a longtime crossing guard on Grattan Street for Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville where he was a longtime Usher. He was an active volunteer at his parish and was known for being the church handyman. He also assisted with the weekly bingo and the yearly church picnic. He leaves his loving brother, Richard A. Coulombe and his wife, Pauline, of Chicopee; his loving sister, Rita A. Carey and her husband, Leo, of Ludlow; his two cherished nephews, Donald Coulombe and his wife, Karen, of Hillsboro, NC and Todd Coulombe of West Springfield; his three cherished grandnephews and his cherished grandniece, Christopher, Tyler, Spencer and Amber Coulombe; and his many dear cousins. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
