Edward M. Macedo, 71, of Fairhaven died July 11, 2005 at home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Beverly A. (Costa) Macedo.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Diogenes and Stella (Ziarnik) Macedo, he lived in Dartmouth for 40 years before moving to Fairhaven eight years ago.
Mr. Macedo was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven where he served as a usher, collector and greeter at church.
He was formerly employed as a school teacher for Keith Junior High School, Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, and Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School for 25 years until his retirement.
Mr. Macedo graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fitchburg State College. He enjoyed H.O. model trains and was a member of Old Colony Model Railroad Club and the European Train Enthusiasts. He volunteered at Dartmouth Council on Aging for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son Edward M. Macedo, Jr. and his wife Bernadette of Dartmouth; a daughter, Gail M. Koerber and her husband Brian J. of Wilmington, MA.; an aunt, Alice Stasiun of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Kimberly E. Koerber and several cousins.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett Friday, July 15th at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Thursday, July 14th from 4-7 PM.
Interment private.
