Portugal – Manuel DeViveiros, age 67 of New Bedford, passed away, unexpectedly, on Sunday, May 15, 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal. He was the beloved husband of Dolira (Viveiros) DeViveiros and the son of the late Jose and Maria Soledade (Soares) DeViveiros.
Manuel was born in Rosario, Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, and, after moving to this country, worked for Teledyne Rodney Metals for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Dolira DeViveiros of New Bedford, children: Dennis DeViveiros and his wife, Diana, of Bristol, RI and Christine Araujo and her husband, Brian, of New Bedford; grandchildren: Sophia, Ethan, Garrett, Abby, Gracie and Nolan; siblings: Jose Viveiros and his wife, Helena of Dartmouth, Maria Cecilia Cabral and her husband, Vitorino of Dartmouth, Rosa Maria Barbosa and her husband Manuel of New Bedford and Margaret Gonneville and her husband, Robert of Rochester; as well as 4 nephews and one niece.
His funeral will be Tuesday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
