Luisa Ialongo passed away peacefully at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Wednesday at the age of 80. Born and raised in Itri, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Augusto and Anita (Conte) Saccoccio. She came with her family to the United States in 1956 and lived in Somerville before settling in Medford. She worked as a seamstress at the famed Pricilla’s of Boston. She later served as lunchroom aid for Somerville Public Schools. Most importantly she was devoted to the care of her loving family and enjoyed her many friends.
The beloved wife of the late Remo Ialongo, Luisa was a devoted mother to Mario Ialongo and his wife MaryBeth, and Angelica Festa and her husband George all of Medford. She leaves her loving granddaughter of Isabella Ialongo. She was a dear sister to Romolo Saccoccio of Somerville, Remo Saccoccio of Reading and the late Ernesto Saccoccio.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, May 24th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer Street, Somerville, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Monday 4-8 PM.
