PENDLETON – Kevin Lee Etherington, 57, passed away Sunday morning on May 15th at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 9, 1959 in Anderson to Keith and Judith (Witham) Etherington. He graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School and Lincoln Technical Institute. He worked as an auto technician and owned and operated Etherington’s Automotive for the past 25 years.
Kevin was a member of Anderson First Church of the Nazarene assisting with the youth van ministry, an active participant of Pendleton Kiwanis and former adult leader of Boy Scout Troop 232. He also was highly instrumental in the Anderson Soap Box Derby.
He enjoyed all sports including NASCAR and the Indianapolis Colts, home construction projects and treasured the time spent with family.
Kevin was a faithful Christian and servant to God who had a fun-loving, most times ornery personality that was exhibited to all who knew him. The impact he made as a great leader and mentor will carry on through the lives he has touched. His spirit will never be forgotten.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 28 years, Laurie; his children, Daniel (Lora), Derek and Karley Etherington; mother and step-father, Judy and Wilbur Osborn of Anderson; three brothers, David (Teresa) Etherington, Keith (Patty) Etherington, both of Anderson and John (Amy) Osborn of Phoenix, AZ; mother-in-law, JoAnn Julian of Pendleton; three grandchildren, Tyler, Jayden and Easton Etherington; many nieces and nephews; countless special friends; and his beloved four-legged buddy, Oakley.
His father, Keith Etherington – 1975 and father-in-law, John Julian – 2014 preceded Kevin in death.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. David Mares, Brandon Aiman, PA, Dr. Alexander Yeh and their staff at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and Cancer Center and to Dr. Ruemu Birhiray at Hematology Oncology of Indiana PC.
