Whitman - Beverly E. (Heddericg) Blanchard 88, a lifelong resident of Whitman and co-founder of the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, died peacefully in the comfort of her beloved home on Thursday May 19. She was the cherished wife of sixty-nine years to the late Edward F. Blanchard, Sr.
Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late George J. and E. Madelin (Curtis) Heddericg and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1946.
Beverly was a familiar face in the Whitman Community having donated countless hours and sitting on the board for the Visiting Nurse Association of Whitman. She was a former member of the Whitman Mothers’ Club and in her younger years had enjoyed bowling with the Women’s Community League.
In 1973 she and her husband Eddie had founded the Blanchard Funeral Chapel and together they continued to provide “Dignified & Dedicated Service” to countless families, until their retirement in 2005.
She was a capable and truly lovely woman, loyal to her family and many friends, and will also be remembered for her beautiful gardens and famous homemade “Baked Beans”!
She is survived by her children Edward F. Blanchard, Jr and his wife Deborah of Groton and Jolene A. Tonello and her husband Robert of Whitman, her grandchildren Jennifer Blanchard and her wife Kristine Gorski, Sarah Mersereau and her husband Eric, Brian Tonello and his wife Tara and Brittany Tonello. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Nicholas and Declan Mersereau and Kacey Tonello.
Her family would like to thank her many caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care for their constant kindness and compassion as well as the Norwell VNA & Hospice.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday May 24 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A private burial will be held at a late date. Visiting hours will be held Monday May 23 from 3:00-7:00 PM
