FRAMINGHAM: Rita T. (Sullivan) Coffey, 90, formerly of Cochituate and Hopkinton, died on May 17, 2016 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Framingham on September 9, 1925 the daughter of the late Jeremiah J. Sullivan and Nora T. (Cronin) Sullivan.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late Leonard A. Coffey who died in July of 1999.
Rita is survived by her nieces and nephews Jean Callahan and her husband Keith Kubacki of Millis; Tricia Texiera and her husband Joe Texiera of Holliston; Dennis Murray and his wife Gina Murray of Winthrop; Susanne Connolly and her husband Kevin Connolly of Winthrop; Jack McDonald and his wife Laura McDonald of Cochituate; Richard Callahan and his wife Paula Callahan of Westborough and Carol Callahan of Boston. Also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews. Sister-in-law of Richard Callahan of Framingham. Sister of the late Helen Murray, Katherine Buckley, Margaret Callahan, Mary McDonald and Geraldine Sullivan.
Rita spent her formative years in Cochituate and graduated from Wayland High School. She resided in Hopkinton for many years and in Framingham for several years. She was a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Ashland. She also spent many countless hours volunteering at the Greyhound Friends of Hopkinton. Rita loved animals and also spent time volunteering and assisting at many local rescue shelters in the MetroWest area.
Rita was devoted to her late husband and also enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 9:15 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment to follow in the McDonald – Coffey family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
