Richard A.Silvestri, 68, of Cherry Hill Road, Johnston died Saturday, in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the loving husband of Janice Gloria (Albenese) Silvestri. They had been married for 46 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Nicole and Michelina (Zompa) Silvestri. Richard was a US Army Vietnam Veteran. After his service to the Country in Vietnam, Richard joined the US Army Reserves from which he retired in 2005 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Richard was a Lt Deputy Sheriff for the State of Rhode Island for 37 years before retiring in 2007. He served as a councilman for the Town of Johnston. He was an avid golfer and ice skater. He loved his cat, Baby.
A graveside service with military honors to which releitives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation respectfully omitted.
