Rita Langelier (née Dupré) died peacefully on April 15th in Peabody, MA at the age of 98. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Rita is survived by her children, Jeanne Langelier-Symington of Rowe, NM, William Langelier of San Francisco, CA, Aline Lavelle of Marblehead, MA, Louise O’Connell of Granby, CT, and Marie Langelier of Belchertown, MA as well as her 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor A. Langelier, of Holyoke, MA and her sister, Theresa Main of Orlando, FL.
Rita was born on August 6th, 1917 in Holyoke, MA to Rose and William Dupré. She graduated from Holyoke High School and then from business school in Springfield, MA. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Blum Hat Factory. Rita married Victor, her local grocer, in 1940. Together they had 6 children, lived in western Massachusetts and were married for 65 years. Rita was a skilled cook who enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and going for long walks. She was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church, a member of a French women's club, Les Dames Française, a docent at the Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke, and very involved with United Cerebral Palsy.
