WORCESTER-Kevin R. Hoey, 57, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 of pancreatic cancer. He is survived by three siblings; David L. Hoey of Spencer, Kathleen L. Kiernan and her husband Joseph of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Michael J. Hoey, Sr. and his wife Janice of Worcester; three nieces, Michelle L. Hoey and her fiancé Steve White of Shrewsbury, Jamie R. Derkosrofian and her husband Levon of Whitinsville and Keegan T. Arcure and husband Justin of Grafton; a nephew, Michael J. Hoey, II and his wife Jessica of Groton, MA; seven great nephews and nieces; and two sisters-in-law, Mary R. Hoey of Whitinsville and Nancy Jones of Auburn. Kevin was predeceased by a brother James F. Hoey, Jr. and also by his loyal companion and best friend, his Boston Terrier Mugsy in January.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late James F. and Florence L. (Streeter) Hoey. Kevin belonged to St. Christopher Church as a child and he has maintained a strong religious faith. He watched the daily mass on television and enjoyed visiting St. Anne’s Shrine in Sturbridge, a place he found comfort and peace. Although Kevin had limited resources, he still found a way to contribute to religious charities every year. Kevin was a kind and loving person who cared about everyone and always looked for the best in people. He will be greatly missed. He loved Lincoln automobiles and enjoyed visiting antique car shows.
Kevin’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 21 at St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
