Obituary

George A. Cross, Jr. – age 66, of Woburn, formerly of Winchester, passed away on May 16, 2016. He was the son of the late George A. Cross, Sr. and June A. (Chase) Ayer.

Born and raised in Winchester, George was a graduate of Winchester High School. After high school, he worked in the automotive repair business and then the restaurant industry as a bartender and restaurant manager. He worked at A.G. Pollard & Sons Restaurant in Lowell, and retired from the Towanda Club in Woburn, where he worked for over 20 years. In his spare time, he was a sports enthusiast who loved the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. He was an avid horse-racing fan who had owned race horses.

Mr. Cross was the dear brother of Jennifer Cross and Jane Ayer, both of Hudson, NH, David Cross of Winthrop, and the late Julie McNeil and husband Fred of Natick, and the late Amy Cross, and uncle of Shon McNeil and his wife Emily of Natick. He was the nephew of Bob Chase and wife Mary, Barbara Currie and husband Jim, the late Marilyn Foskitt and husband George. George is also survived by cousins, Bob Chase, Jr. and his wife Kim, Stephen Chase and his wife Maureen, Brian Chase and his late wife Amy, Colby, Emily, Kate, Lily, Caroline, Cole, Noah and numerous other cousins, relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Thurs., May 19 from 4-6:30PM with a Funeral Service at 6:30PM. Interment is private.
