Oris Ross, 82, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Ocilla United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 PM to 8 PM at, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Ross was born March 27, 1934, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late James Carl & Effie Bryan Ross. He graduated from Ocilla High School in 1951 and attended Berry College. He served his country honorably and retired as MSGT of the United States Air Force. Mr. Ross was a truck driver for the Gin and was owner and operator of the Ocilla Pool Room for 10 years. He was a member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Dottie Ross of Irwin County; two sons: Scott Verdane Ross of Irwin County and Roger Dean Ross & Debra of Locust Grove; five grandchildren: Zachary Ross, Scott Brandon Ross, Amber Lea O’Neal & Chris, Brandy Leigh Ross and Natalie Ross; three great-grandchildren: Tristan O’Neal, Anslee O’Neal and Kiffin James Ross; a brother: James Carl Ross, Jr. of Irwin County and two sisters: Dorothy Corbett of Gainesville, Florida and Doris Vickers of Ocilla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Terry Earl Ross and a brother: Leon Carroll Ross.
