Mary Louise Welsh, 91, of Litchfield, NH, passed away Friday May 13, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lowell, MA on September 22, 1924, a daughter of the late Owen and Rose (Reynolds) McQuaid. She was raised and educated in Lowell where she attended Lowell High School. Mary worked at Hanscom AFB where she met her husband, the late Lt. Col. Thomas Welsh USAF. They lived in Washington DC, Hawaii and then retired in Florida, settling in Winter Park where Mary was very active in her church, St. Margaret Mary. She enjoyed bowling with her husband as well as playing Bunco with her friends. Mary loved volunteer work and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Orlando. After the loss of her husband and being diagnosed with Alzheimers, Mary moved up to New England to live with her daughter and her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria O'Brien and her son-in-law Michael O'Brien of Litchfield and three grandchildren, Erin, Dan, and Ethan O’Brien, all of Litchfield NH. She was predeceased by her son John Owen Welsh and her husband Lt. Col. Thomas G. A. Welsh.
Following Cremation memorial calling hours were held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd. Londonderry, NH. A Memorial Mass was held on Thursday at 10am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield, NH. In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, MA/NH Chapter 166 River Road- Suite 210, Bedford, NH.
