Obituary

James “Jim” Henry Davis, 91, of Ocilla, Georgia, died, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Pruitt Health Ocilla.

Graveside rites, with military honors, will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Paulk Cemetery, on Orchid Road, Irwin County, with Elder Mickey Harris officiating. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening, May 16, 2016, from 6-8 PM at The Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla.

Mr. Davis was born December 16, 1924, in Olympia, Washington, to the late James and Frances Gail Hudson Davis. Jim served his Country Honorably in the United States Navy for over 30 years. Having served on eleven different vessels during his service time. He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam eras. Upon his retirement for the Navy, he moved to Fitzgerald Georgia where he met and married his late wife, Phyllis Paulk Davis, whom he was married to for thirty-eight years. He was employed with Dorminy Medical Center for over twenty years as a cook; he was a member of Henderson Primitive Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon.

Survivors include his two sons: Don Ross and wife Karen, Greg Ross and wife Heather all of Ocilla; four grandchildren, Christi Allen, Jessica Ross, Evan Ross and Tanner Ross; two great-grandchildren, Ian Allen and Kate Allen; a very special niece and nephew: Dave Scoggin of Gig Harbor, Washington and Jan S. Muelhans of Tacoma, Washington. His parents; his first wife, Viola Combs Davis; his second wife, Phyllis Paulk Davis; one sister, Beverly D. Scoggin and one grandson, Donnie Ross, preceded him in death.
