Obituary

Gino J. Azzola Sr. passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2016, with his family at his side. He was son of Allessio and Santina Azzola.

Born March 22, 1927, in Chelsea, MA, he lived there until moving his family to West Yarmouth in 1963.

Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Carter) Azzola, he is survived by his son, Gino Jr. and his son’s fiancé Peg Anderson, and cousins Bob and Ron Azzola, and their families.

After serving in WWII in the navy, he was a printing pressman. Upon moving to the Cape, he worked in construction, then became a painting contractor with Joe Long until his retirement.

Gino loved living on the Cape. Summers he could be seen cruising Lewis Bay in his Beetle Swan, Parker’s River on the “Ev Baby," or playing a round of golf. Shellfishing after church on Sundays. A member of the choir at St Pius X for over 40 years, he made many lifelong friends there. He spent winters in Englewood, FL gathering sharks teeth and singing in the choir at St Raphael’s.

Gino was a friendly, happy-go-lucky man, who never had an unkind word to say about anything. At a gathering, whether playing the piano or a game of cribbage, he always made people happy. “Gino Baby” was loved and will be missed by everyone.

A funeral mass is planned for 11:00 on Thursday, May 19th at St Pius X in South Yarmouth. After the service refreshments will be served in the Church hall.

Donations in Gino’s memory may be made to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Ln, Hyannis MA 02601.
