KENNEBUNK- Dana Ralph Hanson, age 58, of Kennebunk, Maine died unexpectedly on May 15, 2016. Born on October 12, 1957, in Natick, MA the son of Ralph V. and Mabel A. (Smith) Hanson. Dana attended schools in Wellesley, MA where he grew up and learned to appreciate the finer things in life. Dana was an excellent chef, waiter and bartender. He worked in the family restaurant, Mabel’s Lobster Claw, Kennebunkport, owned/operated several businesses in southern Maine, and worked in some of the finest establishments in Massachusetts and Florida. He was a member of the Voltigeur Snowshoe Club and the DAV Club in Biddeford. Dana enjoyed going upta camp on Loon Pond, traveling/cruising, getting together with his many friends and sharing good times with the extended Jones family. Dana had a wide circle of friends who shared his flair for fashion, gift for finding treasures dumpster diving, thrift shopping and enjoying the ambiance of dark and mysterious bars all over the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Dana is survived by his partner, Audrey P. Jones of Kennebunk, his twin sister, Donna Hanson and partner Ed Jacobs of Newton, Ma, Mark and Priscilla Hanson of Wellesley, Ma, Jane Lindsey of Kennebunkport, Victoria Tripp of Fontana, Ca. Dana spent his priceless moments with his extended family members; Richard and Sarah Jones of South Portland, Ora and Steve Hickey of West Gardiner, Enid and Paul Mitnik of Vassalboro, Margaret and Del Lee of Augusta. Several nieces and nephews; Pat, AJ, Meredith, Maddy, Rachel, Bob, Blake, Lauren, Dawn, Julie and their families, dear friends; Peter Buchanan and Dawn (Shuffleburg) Beaucage.
Dana wanted to thank all of those who shared kindness and love during his time of need. At his request a tribute will be planned for everyone to share stories and laughs as A Celebration of Life in the future. Arrangements are with Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service, Buxton.
