Dorothy L. (Lowney) Reynolds, 96, of Fairhaven passed away at home on Saturday May 14, 2016 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Eugene Thomas Reynolds.
Born in New York, NY, the daughter of the late John S. and Honora (Lyons) Lowney, she was raised in New Bedford, lived in Rhode Island for many years before returning to Massachusetts.
Mrs. Reynolds was formerly employed as an employment counselor for the State of Rhode Island until her retirement.
She had been active in the Emblem Club while living in New Bedford, and held offices in several social clubs while living in Rhode Island. She had also been a volunteer for various elder services organizations.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilaine McDonald, of Fairhaven; her brother, Ted Lowney and his wife Shirley of Chicopee; her half-sister, Jo-Ann Lowney and her husband Joel of Arizona; three grandchildren, Marnie Mitchell, Clark Mitchell, and Patrick Mitchell; three great-grandchildren, Patrick Mitchell, Jr., Darby Kat Mitchell, and Finnian Lister; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Wayne McDonald, and her brothers, John P. Lowney and Paul J. Lowney.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
