Edward J. Dempsey age 86 of Canton passed away May 14th at the Hellenic Nursing Home. Born and raised in Boston, he graduated from Boston Latin School where he was the captain of both the football and baseball teams. Ed went on to graduate Boston College where he also was a member of the baseball team. He worked for many years for channel 56 as a Cameraman and Technician for many years before retiring. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching all sports, especially College Football. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Hickey) and the late Barbara L. McNabb. Father of Mark Dempsey of Framingham and Steven Dempsey of Sandwich. Grandfather of Raymond Bertone and Joseph and William Dempsey. Stepfather of Dee Lane of Billerica, Katie Booth of Chelmsford, Bill Tighe of Cambridge and Tom Tighe of Lewistown, MT. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Tuesday morning at 10:30. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday morning prior to the mass from 9 to 10 am. Burial St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury.
