Obituary

Lucille Blain Salhany died May 12, 2016 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Georges and Marie-Rose (Auger) Blain of Woonsocket and wife of the late Robert Salhany of North Providence. She leaves two sons: Daniel and Stephen, a daughter-in-law, Danielle, and a grand-daughter, Evelyn Rae. She also leaves three sisters: Muriel Laetitia Blain, Francoise Dowling and her husband John, and Paulette LaBarre and her husband George, four nephews, and three nieces and their spouses as well as seventeen grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the sister of the late Fr. Lionel Blain and Fernand Blain.

She graduated from Holy Family School, and St Clare High School in Woonsocket and then received her degree in Social Work from Assumption College in Worcester, MA. Her professional life included placements for adoptions at Catholic Social Services in Providence and counselor and social worker at St. Antoine’s Residence in North Smithfield. She was beloved by her clients and by all those who were under her care.

Lucille loved to pray the psalms and the rosary. She was an avid reader and bridge player.

A private Mass will be held at the discretion of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home.
