Betty Sue Jones, 71, of Fitzgerald, died, Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
The funeral service will be held at 11AM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Charles Tyson and Rev. Earlie Holt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 PM, Sunday, May 15, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Jones was born, May 12, 1945, in Ocilla, Georgia to the late A. T. and Velma Maudine Whitley Rowell. She has been a part of the Ben Hill Community since 2004, when she and her husband moved from Lynchburg, Virginia. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening; and was retired from Lowell Packing Company and was a member of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-eight years: Edgar Homer Jones of Fitzgerald, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law: Connie B. Snyder and husband Perno of Amherst, Virginia; a step-son, Terry Jones and wife Sharon of Wiggins, Mississippi; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Rowell and wife Tammy of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Billy Rowell and Leroy Rowell both of Irwinville, Georgia; sisters: Frances R. Taylor and husband Richard of Rochelle Georgia and Martha R. Roe and husband Patrick of Ocilla, Georgia. Her parents; a daughter, Betty Faye Brooks; two stepsons, Ronnie Jones and Eddie Jones and a brother, Jessie Rowell, preceded her in death.
