Laconia------Louis St. Gelais 87, of Birchwood way died Friday, May 13, 2016 at Forest View Manor.
Louis was born January 9, 1929 in Manchester, NH, son to the late Delphis and Odianna (Gagnon) St. Gelais. He worked for Scott & Williams before starting his own business, Tangent Tool & Stamping in 1960.
Louis was an avid wood carver, his work appeared in "SurBois", an exhibit focused upon traditional Franco-American Woodcarvers living in New England. He also enjoyed archery, shooting, tennis, bicycling and golf.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Cecile (Cormier) St. Gelais of Laconia, two sons, David St. Gelais of Laconia and Mark St. Gelais of Meredith; his daughter, Denise Ortakales of Laconia; nine grandchildren; Gregory St. Gelais and Demetrius Ortakales both of Laconia, Jason St. Gelais of Meredith, Nicholas Ortakales of Seattle, WA, Sarah Reynolds of Laconia, Tina Kelly of East Boston, MA, Tracy Moyseowicz of Charlestown, MA, Cristin Foster of Reading, MA and Carie St . Gelais of Sanbornton; eleven great-grandchildren and his brother, Maurice St. Gelais of Manchester. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his three brothers, Florian, Marcel and Lionel and his sister, Genevieve St. Gelais.
Calling Hours will be Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 10:00am at Saint Andre Bessette - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia.
Committal services will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.
