Bridgewater – Barbara R. (Williams) Sullivan 78 formerly of East Bridgewater died Saturday May 14 after a period of failing health. She was the cherished wife of 56 years to Dennis Sullivan.
Born and raised in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Arthur D. and Elizabeth V. (Reardon) Williams and a graduate of Brockton High, Class of 1955.
In her younger years she had worked at the former Commonwealth Shoe, where she met her beloved husband Dennis.
Prior to her move to Bridgewater sixteen years ago, Barbara had been a longtime resident of East Bridgewater where she and her husband Dennis had raised their five children.
She had enjoyed many years “wintering” in Florida, and had loved going to Bingo, playing cards and crafting. She was a great cook and loved to bake, but her greatest joy came from following the many activities of her children and grandchildren and the times spent surrounded by her large family.
In addition to her husband Dennis she is survived by her children Kevin Sullivan of East Bridgewater, Brian Sullivan and his wife Cheryl of East Bridgewater, John Sullivan and his wife Vicki of Whitman, Maureen Hayes and her husband Timothy of Hanson and Dennis Sullivan, Jr and his wife Beth of Whitman, her sisters Margaret Lundstedt of Middleboro, Mildred Waterman of Halifax and Ruth Driscoll of Pembroke. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Elaine Sullivan, her sister Nancy Chapman and her brothers Richard and Robert Williams.
Her services will be held Wednesday May 18 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday May 17 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
