Obituary

Marjorie McMinn Dickey, age 87, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS surrounded by her family. She was born December 30, 1928 in Water Valley to the late Dennis and Catherine Hunt McMinn. Marjorie graduated from Water Valley High School and was known for her athletic achievements as a basketball player. She moved to San Diego, CA and was employed by Convair where she worked on airplanes. After twenty-five years she moved back to Water Valley and retired from Borg-Warner after twenty years as an auditor. Marjorie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Water Valley and was a foster grandparent at NMRC for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family. Marjorie enjoyed cooking for her family - her specialty was chocolate and coconut pies; painting and sewing.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Allen McGraw and Rev. Stony Moorehead officiating. Burial will be in the Jumper’s Chapel Cemetery in Yalobusha County.

Marjorie is survived by two sons, Jerry (Nancy) Dickey of Water Valley, MS and Chuck (Linda) Dickey of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Kate (Benny) Butts of Water Valley, MS, Myra Edwards of Louisville, MS and Mary John (Robert) Turnage of Philadelphia, MS; her brother, Dennis (Loy) McMinn of Water Valley, MS; four grandchildren, Brian Dickey, Autumn (James) Broome, Sarah Dickey and Katie Dickey; and one great-grandchild, Zachary Broome.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mack Dickey and her son, James Dickey.
