Obituary

Gordon S. Greaves was born in Lower Black Rock section of Bridgetown, Barbados on Tuesday, November 19, 1940 to Doyle Deane and Irene Greaves. Gordon had three younger sisters: Angela McCarthy, Cheryl Deane, and the late Suzette Piggot.

Gordon met his wife Sylvia Green in 1961 in Barbados and they later married on Saturday,July 27,1963. Gordon and Sylvia had two children while living in Barbados, their son Barrymore and daughter Suzanne.Gordon and Sylvia moved to the U.S. in 1970 and later had their youngest daughter, Deidre. Gordon attended a cooking school in England and was a chef by trade.

Gordon's favorite pastime was cooking, listening to music, and watching Western Movies. Gordon loved to watch and talk about sports and had a passion for his favorite teams: The Boston Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and his favorite of all The New England Patriots. Gordon enjoyed watching the news and staying up to date with current events. Gordon had an uncanny memory when it came to dates and could tell you the day of the week a specific date fell on from 5 years ago. Most importantly, Gordon loved his grandchildren.

Gordon is survived by: his wife Sylvia of 53 years, a son Barrymore Greaves and his wife Mitzi, daughter Suzanne Greaves and daughter Deidre McDonough and her husband James. Gordon is also survived by his eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Barrymore, Kayla, Aija, Ariana ,Kelleena, Keiarra, Samarija, Devante, Dante, Josiah, Jaxon, Carter, and Colbi.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting hours in the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Highway, Roslindale on Friday, May 20th from 6-8pM.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Greenwood Memorial United Methodist Church, 378 Washington Street, Dorchester at 10:00AM.
