James Vernon Bowen, 69, of Rome, formerly of Tifton, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center in Rome. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Bowen at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 17, 2015, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born June 30, 1946 in Tifton, Mr. Bowen was the son of the late James T. Bowen and Doris Clements Bowen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cordia Ann Page Bowen, who passed away April 6, 2015. He was retired and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Bowen is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jason and Stacey Bowen of Marietta, Michael and Judy Bowen of Tiffin, Ohio and Stephan Bowen of Tifton and his fiance', Frances S. Platt of Calhoun; one sister, Sharon Flowers of Bainbridge; and three grandchildren, Myka Bowen, Stephan Bowen and Cherish Keene.
