Gloria “Tyke” Floyd, 88 of Derry, NH died Monday May 9, 2016 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Floyd in 1974. She was born in Derry, a daughter of the late Albert and Agnes (Meehan) Gallien, creators of Gallien’s Beach in Derry. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy Class of 1945 and participated in many sports, including the cheerleading squad for two years. She loved playing all kinds of cards and Bingo and also writing poetry. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, mainly the Red Sox which was her passion. Her favorite player was Dustin Pedroia.
She had three children, her son Christopher Floyd, Sr. of Hudson, NH, her daughter, Annette Joyce (her caregiver) and her favorite son-in-law, David Joyce of Derry, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Albert “Babe” Gallien of Derry, three sisters, Teda Tingley of Chester, NH, Marlene Gallien of Colchester, VT, and Michele Fernandez of Gilmanton Ironworks, NH. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends from Nutfield heights.
A calling hour will be held on Friday May 13, 2016 from 9 – 10 am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services will follow at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greater Derry Boys and Girls Club, P.O. Box 140, E. Derry, NH 03041.
