PROVIDENCE – Alfred Eugenio of Taunton, husband of the late Dorothy (Rose) Eugenio, died at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care of Rhode Island on May 6, 2016. He was 91.
The son of the late Joseph Eugenio and Mary (Marques) Eugenio-Mello, he was born, raised, and educated in Taunton. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
He attended the Rhode Island School of Design, and was employed as a Plastics Engineer for the former Modern Plastics Company and GE Hascon, retiring at the age of 61.
A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, he was proud to be called the #1 Bocce player at the Italian Club of Taunton, and also enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by 3 sons; Alfred Eugenio and his wife Joyce of North Dighton, Dr. Paul Eugenio and his wife Rachael of FL, and Wayne Eugenio of Taunton; 1 daughter, Paula E. Steere and her husband Peter of CT; 3 brothers, Francis R. Mello and Henry Mello of Taunton, and Carlos Mello of AZ; 1 sister, Agnes Pigeon of FL; 6 grandchildren, Alex Eugenio, Adam and his wife Michaela Eugenio, Paul Eugenio, Jr; Jo-Hanna Eugenio, Owen Eugenio, Carlin Steere; many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother to the late Charles Eugenio, Mark Eugenio, and Alveda Souza.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Friday May 13th at 11 a.m., followed by his funeral mass at Annunciation of The Lord Church at 12 p.m.
Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 12th from 4 to 7 p.m.
