BUXTON- William Richard Rooney, 81, passed away due to pulmonary fibrosis on May 9, 2016 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. He was born in Patterson, New Jersey on August 30, 1934, the son of Thomas Rooney and Eva Houston Rooney. Bill worked at General Electric Company in Patterson, New Jersey for ten years before transferring to Maine where he continued to work for General Electric in South Portland until they closed. He retired in 1997 from D & G Machine Shop in Westbrook, Maine.
His interests included, hunting, fishing and bee keeping on his farm in Buxton where he lived with his wife of 50 years Penny Rooney. He is survived by two siblings, Mary Ellen Liebla and Thomas Rooney of New Jersey; his wife, Penny Rooney; his sister-in-law, Ruby King; nephew, Danny MacFadyen and his wife Kelly MacFadyen their three sons, Trevor, Troy & Trajdan along with many more friends and family.
Per the family’s wishes, he was cremated and a private ceremony was held.
