Obituary

WEBSTER - Norma M. (Green) Allard died Sunday, May 8, 2016, with her beloved children by her side.

She is survived by her daughter Robin L. Brodeur, son-in-law Gerry "Sonny," and their children Abby and Ben of Webster; a son Joseph R. Allard of Webster; a daughter Lori J. Allard of Millbury; a step-daughter Elice Del Plato and her son Jonathan of Batavia, NY. She also leaves behind her brother David Green and his wife Louise of Millbury and their children John, Cathy, Karen, and Katie; her brother Robert Green and his wife Nancy of Millbury and their children Jo-Anne and Thomas; her brother Richard Green of Millbury; and four special friends she loved as sisters, Sylvia, Rose, Kathy, and Angie. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Harold "Harry" F. Allard and her close companion Norman O'Loughlin.

She was born in Worcester and raised in Millbury, the first child of Joseph E. and Alice (Platts) Green. She graduated from Millbury High School in 1953 and moved to Webster in 1960.

Norma loved her family. She worked at maintaining familial relationships with aunts, uncles, cousins — with whom she continued to meet monthly — and other relatives. She instilled in her children the importance of maintaining relationships with family, demonstrated by example how to love those around us, serve those we love, and laugh at ourselves. She lived life by looking toward what she could accomplish tomorrow, never wanting to slow down.

She made friends from childhood, maintaining contact with high school friends (“Club”) that she would meet with on the 2nd Tuesday of every month since.

She made neighborhood and local friends when she married and moved to Webster to raise her family. Even though she had friends that she might not see for a while, those friendships would always pick up again like not even a day had passed.

When raising her family, she made anyone welcome including several salespeople who ended up at the dinner table, eating supper with the family after attempting to sell their wares. Her yard was filled with neighborhood kids; she was often found being “mom” to whatever kid was over to play that day.

She was a stay-at-home mom for years, but also worked for local companies, including Massachusetts Electric. After retirement, Norma made new friends when she joined the Silver Dippers and ensured less mobile friends had rides to the Senior Center, lunch meet-ups, or even doctor appointments.

She had a huge heart, loved spending time with people and helping others, and would extend the family even further she encountered someone that didn’t have family support like hers, continually absorbing friends into the rather large extended family.

She had a great laugh, loved puzzles, play card and board games, and had a wonderful, if not quirky, sense of humor. She made people laugh with her sayings, such as “good gravy” and “go fry ice,” and was often reprimanded for swearing in front of her grandchildren Abby & Ben, whom she adored, loved to spend time with, and often talked about with pride.

When she wasn’t with her family, she loved gardening and spent as much time as physically possible in the backyard, planting, weeding, mowing, and cleaning.

She will leave a huge hole in so many hearts and lives; if you see her kids, please stop us and share your Norma story.
