Obituary

In Taunton, May 7, 2016 Leo Francis Gauthier passed away in Morton Hospital following a period of failing health. Leo was the loving husband of the late Ellen A. (Tanes) Gauthier. He was born in Middleboro, the son of the late Elzear & Mary (Joyce) Gauthier. Leo was educated in Middleboro schools. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during both WWII and the Korean War on the USS Ticonderoga CV-14. Leo was one of six siblings to serve in the service at the same time.  Leo worked at Reed & Barton Silver Company and worked as a finisher until his retirement in 1978. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed woodworking, his daily trips to Trucchi’s Supermarket, to get the daily newspaper and to visit his friends. Leo above all cherished his time with family especially his loving grandchildren. Leo is survived by his loving children Sharon Matthews and her husband Robert of Middleboro, Mark A. Gauthier of Iowa, Barry R. Gauthier of Vermont and Kevin P. Gauthier of Taunton. He also leaves his grandchildren Amy Eichhammer, Erin Wright, Michala, Mike and Molly Matthews, Bailee Duquette and his great grandchildren Brooklynn Thomas, Tucker and Harper Wright. Leo was preceded in death by his seven siblings Bill, James, Gerard, Gertrude, Freddie and Alfred. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma 02780 on Thursday, May 12th at 8:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro at 10 am. Burial will be at Bourne National Cemetery at 12:45 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday from 5-7 pm.
