Obituary

Methuen – Mary V. (McCloskey) Burdin, 86 of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Blaire House of Tewksbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Burdin. Mary was born in Quincy, Mass., on January 8, 1930, the daughter of Robert McCloskey and Katherine Keliher. She was educated in Quincy schools and graduated from Quincy High School. She worked in the Veteran’s Affairs Office in Methuen for over 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors walking every day. She also enjoyed attending yard sales and finding a good bargain. She loved spending summers at the beach, especially taking a drive to Markey’s to get her favorite Lobster Bisque. But most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

Mary will be deeply missed by her son, David Burdin of Dracut; her daughter, Sheila Burdin of Dracut; 11 grandchildren, Amanda and David Burdin, Jr., Paul, Chris, and Andy Michaud, Cherie Michaud Halloran, James, Robert, Brian, Mark, and Sarah Burdin; eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Sarah and Nick Halloran, Aiden, Fallyn and Madison Michaud, Liliana and James Burdin Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Susan Burdin, of Methuen; her sister, Nancy Duca, of Weymouth, MA; her brother, Charles McCloskey and his wife, Cindy, of Carver, MA; and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Brian and Robert Burdin; her brothers, Robert and Paul McCloskey; her sister, Sheila Kellogg; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Krofka Burdin.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Mary’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4 - 8 P.M. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 9 AM at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
