Obituary

FALL RIVER — William A. Rose, age 71 years, of Assonet, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.He was the son of the late Anthony and Angie (Thomas) Rose.He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his son Jeffrey Rose and his wife Kerri; his daughter Deborah Rose Klein and grandson Zachary A. Klein; his brothers, Anthony Rose and his wife Elaine of Berkley, Raymond Rose and his wife Janice of Berkley, and Daniel Rose and his wife Donna of Assonet; his sisters, Olive Bennett and her husband John of Phoenix, AZ, and A. Linda Wysong and her husband Frank of NH; and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Brenda A. Stratton.Bill attended Berkley schools and Dighton-Rehoboth High School. While in school, he worked part-time as a stockboy for Mars Discount Store and worked up to regional buyer. From there he implemented a plant department which served all Mars Stores in New England. Upon closure of Mars, he opened his own business in Dighton known as Callahan's. From there he operated Klein Greenhouse at Bldg. 19 for several years.Most of all, he loved his entire family, was an avid sports fan and reader, and enjoyed working in the yard and was particularly happy tending to his flowers.Visitation will take place on Monday, from 5-8 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County Street, New Bedford. His service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Remembrances may be made in his name to the charity of one's choice.
