Obituary

Richard Paul SanSouci, D.D.S., 59, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at home on Friday May 6, 2016. He was the loving husband of Cathryn Ann (Pumilia) SanSouci, D.D.S. They were married in 2003 and together they traveled to seven continents creating adventures and making lasting memories.

Born and raised in Whitinsville, the son of the late Wilfred and Anita (Langlois) SanSouci, he resided in New Bedford where he maintained a dental practice for the past 32 years.

Rick received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Dalhousie University. He was certified by the Northeast Regional Board of Examiners, the National Examining Board of Canada, and the New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners. Rick was in the 97th percentile of all National Boards and was a brilliant genius.

He was a member of the American Dental Association, and the Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Chicago, and Southeastern District Dental Societies.

Rick was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where he was a member of the Men’s League, and was a member of the Senior Holy Name Society in Rockford, Illinois. Rick had a special devotion to St. Peter. He possessed a purity of heart and was diligent in fulfilling all of his works. His passion was providing dental services to the people of the Commonwealth. All of his talents will continue to shine through in all the smiles he so passionately restored.

Rick is survived by his wife Cathryn; his brothers, Ronald SanSouci and his wife Mary, and Robert SanSouci; his twin sister, Ann Marie Bates and her husband Daniel; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Albert and Elsie Pumilia; his sister-in-law, Dr. Pacita Marie Pumilia; his loving nephew and Godson, Alex Pumilia Sagona; his niece, Melissa Scott and her husband Robert; his nephew, Daniel Bates; and grandnephews and grandniece, Danny, Robbie, and Lexi.

Rick’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville.
