New Bedford – Norman R. Lavoie, Sr., 64, passed away May 1, 2016 at the Mariner of SEMA. He was the husband of Claudia A. (Gross) Lavoie.
Mr. Lavoie was born in Fall River, son of the late Roger and Doris (Ferland) Lavoie, and resided in New Bedford for most of his life. He was employed as a presser by Mayhew’s Valet Professional Dry Cleaners until leaving due to illness. He enjoyed building and collecting model cars, puzzles, and painting.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter: Jo-ann Escobar; a son: Norman R. Lavoie, Jr.; a brother: Raymond Lavoie; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was father of the late Rachel M. Lavoie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford on Monday, 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 A.M. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery II, New Bedford.
