Mary M. (James) Walsh, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at her home in Charlestown following an extended illness. She was 97 years old.
Mary was born in Boston on July 14, 1918, a daughter of the late Lawrence W. James and Mary M. (Storey) James. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Mary worked for over 20 years as a clerk for Commercial Union Insurance Company. Mary has been a very active member of St. Mary's Parish in Charlestown where she volunteered countless hours of her life along with her husband John to sustain and keep the church's upkeep for many years. She was a former member of St. Mary's Church Ladies Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella. Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting and painting.
Mary is the beloved wife of the late John F. Walsh. She is the devoted mother of Mary M. Walsh of Charlestown. She is the beloved sister of Olive Connolly of Florida and the late Stella Sawicki, Claire LaPointe, Eileen Kessler, Warren James, Roy James and Robert James. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
