WAYLAND: Marie D. (Caron) Conway, 101, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her Wayland residence where she resided for over 61 years, on Thursday, May 5, 2016 following a brief illness.
She was born in Westerly, Rhode Island on September 27, 1914 the daughter of the late Emile Caron and Florida (Guillemette) Caron.
Marie was the wife of the late J. Kenneth Conway who died on May 6, 1975. She was the devoted mother of Lee Conway Toth and her husband Marton Toth of Tewksbury; Lyn Conway DiBiase and her husband Robert DiBiase of Carlisle; Judy Conway Courchine and her husband Kevin Courchine of Wayland and the late John K. Conway, Jr. who died on February 2, 2014. Sister of Leona Benson of Versailles, CT. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Marie spent her formative years in Baltic, CT and resided in West Newton before moving to Wayland in 1955. She received her training and nurse’s aide certificate from Marlborough Hospital and for over 25 years, Marie was a Home Health Aide associated with the Parmenter Health Center in Wayland and retired at the young age of 88. She was also a teacher’s aide for several years with the Town of Wayland School Department at the Happy Hollow School. Marie had a special calling in her life and her love of children brought her to care for many newborn babies at her home in Wayland through Catholic Charities before they were adopted. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith and was a longtime communicant of Saint Zepherins Church. She also served as a former President of the Legion of Mary and active in the Womens Club of the church.
Her greatest accomplishment was the love and devotion that she had for her family who was always the center of her life. At the wonderful age of 101, Marie was able to independently live her life at her home in Wayland and was as bright and gracious right up until her passing on Thursday morning.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Good Shepherd Parish at Saint Zepherins Church, 99 Main Street (Rte 27), Wayland on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:00 am for her Mass of Christian Burial.
Private family interment will be held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Marlborough later in the day.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Marie’s memory be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
