Anne M. (McCormick) Fisher, 86, of Fairhaven passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 4, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Albert L. “Bud” Fisher.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Kelley) McCormick, she moved to Fairhaven in 1978.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church where she participated in the choir, under the direction of John T. Curry. She was a member of the Catholic Woman’s Club.
Anne graduated from Holy Family High School, Campbell’s Secretarial School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1956.
She worked over 30 years in the maternity unit at St. Luke’s Hospital and was a member of the School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Anne’s favorite things were needlework, lawn care and gardening.
She is survived by six children, Elizabeth J. and husband Ricardo Kuhner of Fairhaven, Thomas M. Fisher and companion Lavonne Straley of Atlanta GA, Kathleen M. and husband Peter Nelson of Mattapoisett, Mary Kate and husband Michael Moura of Fairhaven, Anne Marie and husband Arthur Leonard of Lakeville and Margaret O. Fisher of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Shannon Ellis and her husband Bancroft, Sean Mitchell and his wife Jessica, Nicolas Nelson and his wife Taylor and Alex Nelson; and two great-grandchildren, Braegha Ellis and Caden Mitchell. She also leaves two sisters, Rosemary Smith of FL and Dee Foerst of RI, and many nieces, nephews and extended family who have been touched by her kind heart.
She was predeceased by her brothers Robert A. McCormick and Michael F. McCormick.
Her Memorial Mass will be held on Friday May 13, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 12, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
