Sarah Ann Hendley, 86, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, May 8, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in Old Valley Grove Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Hendley was born September 1, 1929, in Fitzgerald, to the late Judge D.E. & Annie Drake Griffin. She was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mrs. Hendley loved caring for others and worked her entire career as a nurse at local hospitals and nursing homes, retiring from the Irwin County Health Department. Her family will remember her as a strong woman and great cook. She was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
She is survived by her son, Michael Edwin “Mike” Hendley of Ocilla; a grandson: Michael Edwin Hendley, Jr. and his wife, Leigh Anne Hendley of Irwin County; and two great-grandchildren: Lane Hendley and Lucy Belle Hendley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Edwin Hendley as well as eight brothers and sisters.
